Dental bridges are replacement teeth, and may be recommended to replace either a single tooth or several teeth in a row. Bridges are a fixed oral appliance, meaning that they are non-removable. They consist of one or more prosthetic teeth attached to dental crowns, which are anchored to teeth on either side of the gap caused by your missing tooth in order to provide a stable restoration. In some cases we may recommend anchoring your bridge with a dental implant.
Dental bridges work to:
- Close the gap in your smile
- Prevent your remaining teeth from shifting out of place
- Restore your ability to chew, speak and smile normally
- Restore a fully functional bite
- Alleviate stress on your bite
- Provide support for the contours of your face
- Improve the appearance of your smile
Dental bridges traditionally take two appointments to complete. However, Rock Creek Dental utilizes CEREC same-day dentistry technology to design, create and place your bridge in just one appointment. Our dentists will first prepare the teeth on either side of the gap to receive crowns. We will then take an impression and create a model using our CEREC software. Your bridge will then be designed and milled. Finally, our dentists will place your bridge and check it to ensure that it fits and functions properly. The bridge will then be permanently fixed in place to complete your treatment.
